Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks – 51 games, 20-25-6 (46 points, 6th in East Division)
Johnstown Tomahawks – 51 games, 36-10-5 (77 points, 1st in East Division)
Tale of the Tape
The Jr. Hat Tricks have played the division-winning Tomahawks tightly this season, though they are 1-4-2 against them this season. Their most recent three-game weekend saw Danbury take a 5-1 victory Friday night, a dramatic overtime loss Saturday and a regulation loss Sunday.
Johnstown has been one of the best teams in the NAHL this year as they look to end their regular season schedule on a high note. They are on a three-game winning streak, having bested the Maryland Black Bears last weekend 4-1.
Danbury, coming off a two game sweep of the fifth place Northeast Generals, will look to propel themselves forward to fifth place in the standings; they trail Northeast by just one point.
Players to Watch
Porter Schachle: The 6’3” forward from Alaska has been terrific against Johnstown this season, netting three goals and one assist in seven games. He’s a terrific shot-generator with a pro’s frame and 17 goals to his name this season. The future looks bright as Schachle wraps up his junior career this weekend.
Ben Biester: Biester potted a shorthanded breakaway goal Tuesday night, one of many prime scoring chances he has generated the last few weeks. Biester’s goal propelled Danbury to a 5-1 win and a sweep of the Northeast Generals. He has come on strong to end the season, registering a goal and two assists over his last three games.
Jay Ahearn: Ahearn, a commit to Niagra University of the Atlantic Hockey Conference, has been on a tear lately with six points in his last three games. Those six points add to his team-leading 57 this season, a mark that ranks third-best in the NAHL. His 27 goals lead the league.
